About the product

Birch plywood is a wood-based panel made by bonding birch veneers with grain directions alternating between layers. Its uncoated, sanded faces are considered for furniture, interiors and woodworking. Thickness, face grade and the visible-face requirement are selected together; an uncoated birch sheet has a different surface from film-faced plywood.

Choosing birch plywood

The face, exposed edge and cutting layout belong to the same specification. Describe which faces will remain visible and how the sheet will be processed, alongside its thickness.

Where is birch plywood used?

Furniture carcasses, shelving, interior panels and machined wood components are typical areas for consideration. An exposed-edge design draws attention to the layers; a painted face calls for a suitable grade and finishing specification. For CNC cutting or routing, consider drawings, machining requirements and final part dimensions when selecting the panel.

What do B/BB and BB/BB mean?

Face grades describe the appearance requirements for the two outer faces. Read the front and back separately in designations such as B/BB or BB/BB. Consult the brochure’s grading descriptions for knots, patches and colour variation. A face grade alone does not establish load capacity, water resistance or suitability for exterior exposure.

Birch plywood versus film-faced plywood

Birch describes the wood species, while film-faced describes a surface treatment; a birch-based panel can therefore also be film-faced. Compare the uncoated birch plywood on this page with film-faced series according to appearance and application. “Waterproof plywood” alone is not a sufficient specification: bonding, face treatment, edge protection and exposure must be assessed together.

Birch plywood pricing and sheet orders

Thickness, sheet size, face grade and quantity are the basis of a birch plywood quotation. Compare brochure dimensions with the cutting layout; do not treat every size and thickness combination as current stock. Include sheet count or square metres, visible-face requirements, delivery location and any component list.
